it was the best of times it was the worst of times. we started fishing at approximately 0930HRS.  the wind was gusting and the threat of rain hung in the air.  things started off great sunshine caught the first fish a 36" pike (aka sea monster) she caught the next two 30" pike and a 24" pike.  then i caught one 25 " pike sunshine caught another 29" pike.  i followed that with a 27" pike of my own.  we took pictures of them all and returned them to the water.  we took a break for lunch about 1130HRS and drove into town to get some drinks. i had left the cooler with the drinks on the counter.  went by the only sporting goods store other than walmart try to find a jaw spreader.  no luck very limited fishing supplies.  we returned to the lake at approximately 1230HRS and desided to try a new spot.  i caught a 17" pike third or fourth cast.  sunshine not to be out done then hooked into a large mouth bass.  161/2" long with an 11" girth.  we debated on keeping it and having it stuffed but i told her we would take pictures of it get good measurements and release it.  then i would be able to get her a reporodution mount.  the fish was released to fight another day after a quite a few pics were taken.  well here comes the  worst part of the day.  the bass has been released and i started thinking about getting the film developed so i can post the pics along with this report.  as i am looking at the camera to see how many pics are left.  i look in the little window on the back and low and behold the dang camera has no film.  this camera is always in sunshines vest and we have taken pics all year with it.  not knowing that there was no film.  so no pics sorry but a great day of catching here on the western slope.   tight lines

forgot to add i did not get a single bite untill i put a steel leader on sunshine had one on from the start and caught fish right away.  also sunshine used one lure all day a fire tiger 1oz kastmaster.  even for the bucket mouth

Re: tottoen res

went back to tottoen on Wednesday not as good as monday.

i would say it had to do with the blue bird sky and high temps.  started fishing around 0830HRS caught my first pike around 0900HRS  heres a pic of him after a role in the dirt.  i was unable to find a set of jaw spreaders so i attempted to make my own as you can guess they did not work the way i had hoped

went on to catch one more pike both were around 25"

still trying to get the hang of this new camera sunshine got it for me.  its a little camera for a key chain she picked up at walmart takes pretty good pics fo $19.00
once again orange and gold seemed to be the goto colors again.  we are planning another trip possibly Monday, but with the holiday iam not sure,  well good luck and tight lines

all pike released unharmed althought a little dirty bacj inot the lake.
