wow.. Good tips. I tried to practice at the park on sunday (great weather). Still not getting it. While a guide would be too expensive for me I think a class or two is within my budget. I usually buy all my gear at Discount Fishing out of Fort Collins...I think I remember a sign about casting and tying classes.

I think my main problem is the pick up...back cast....and forward cast...and presentation :). While it is a bit frustrating, I plan to see this through. If I still cant get it with instruction I think I have an idea on how to cast fly-fishing line without the rod....it involves a slingshot.....

Try the 3M video by Doug swisher and Mel Krieger's book "The Essence of fly Casting" I went my whole first year without catching a single fish on a fly rod. Got these two things and my casting and fishing in general improved in about a week.
