Got off work at 1:00 AM, decided I'd try out a local pond... It was a warm day today (or yesterday) so I figured the fish would be a bit more active than they have been lately.

Grabbed my favorite night-fishing rod and reel and hit the road with a tub-o-crawlers and my pocket tackle box, just KNOWING I was going to catch my first channel cat ever in January........

The combo... Classic Mitchell 300 reel paired with my grandpa's vintage ultralight rod:

Rigged up my favorite night-fishing rig... Bright yellow jig-head with a crawler as the body....

Fished for a while using different retrieves, presentations, and locations and COULD NOT GET A BITE FOR ANYTHING. I got cold and hungry, so I came home to write this up.

What do you see if you come across a skunk at night?

Two white lines......

Dammit Owen, what have I told you about mentioning those two words around a bunch of old hippies and rehabbing junkies? :hippie::hippie::hippie:

Dudes are slaying crappie by the boatload out here right now... Douglas, Cherokee, and Ft. Loudon reservoirs are giving up limit after limit of 12"+ fish... Planer boards are the ticket out here... Dudes aren't shy about talking about their spots and techniques with others... The water situation out here is just so different from CO. I will be trying my hand at some black-nose crappie on Center Hill when my boat arrives. They're growing large there from reports and pictures I'm seeing.

Aaaaahhh.... Yea. Feel that. My last one was, shall we say, unexpected. :)

But she turned out to be a beautiful baby girl... In retrospect, I'm happy about it... But last time I saw those pink lines, I was physically ill for 3 days.
