Yhellow....

Yo..... Went to Union this morning. Got there at 8am. Fished til noon right next to the boat ramp. Caught a 14 inch rainbow and a smaller one. Used crawler under a slip bobber about 5 ft below the surface.

The trout were very picky though. Water was really clear and you could see the trout cruising the shorelines all morning. They chased my rooster tails all the way up to my foot and turned around on almost every other cast. Kind of cool to see.Saw a few of them spawning(?). I think.

There was a group of 3 or maybe 4 of them very shallow in about 2 ft of water and I clearly saw them do a little "dance". Every 30 seconds to a minute or so, one of the trout would turn sidways and shiver. The other two trout around that big one were chasing the cruisers away as they came around and sometimes they would go at it with eachother.

I'm thinking that was courtship..... Or they were just babysitting a whirling diseased trout. Can't be disease though, as the trout were pretty healthy. The ones I caught were brightly colored and dark. There was no nipped fins either. When I filleted the big one, the flesh was a fleshy pink color and there was a sh*tload of sperm in his sperm sac.

About that bow' I caught.....

Used a Louisiana catfish batter and deep fried the fillet until golden brown. Mmmmmm mmm yummy. That batter goes for a little over a buck at King Soopers.
