fished a lake up north with a friend whom has been catching walleye on a pretty regular basis.got there at 6am temp was 54 degrees on the truck thermometer. he had been there since 5am and had already landed one 16 inched an lost another due to a gander mountain brand new rod breaking during the hook set.shortly after getting there the wind picked up and the temps dove dropping twenty degrees in an hour and putting down the fish.at least the walleye we moved a little and pretty much had non stop action for cookie cutter 12 to 14 inch trout. got tired of the cold and trout and took off to another lake not very far away. i managed two nice crappie in about a half an hour and then left. there was a lot of water on first lake with about 5inches of ice the second had no water but only three inches of soft ice, hence the reason i went home.with the warmer weather forecasted im afraid at least for me both lakes will be off limits soon.
