warren and i went down to conchas lake New Mexico and fished the high desert walleye assn tourny last week end. we got there on Thursday and were on the water pre fishing by 10 AM all we could find were white bass, tried new places on friday, less white bass but no eyes to be had. Sat. was bright and clear and no wind. the eyes hadn't been very shallow or in depths 10 to 20 feet deep, so we started at 20 to 35 feet and draging lindy rigs with worms and blades or bare worms. the first eye hit in 15 minutes and it was game on for the rest of the day.we came in to weigh in at 3 PM feeling good about our fish, but tired and sunburned. as the fish were weighed ours were first, so we were in first for a bit, then we went to second, then to third where we finished. Sunday was a little breasy at 6 Am and we found the fish again but much slower, then the wind came up, but the sun was still burning and we ended up with only 3 fish, because we lost one at the boat before i could get the net under it. so we wern't happy with our results. at weigh in we found a dead fish, that was alive 30 minutes before. so we had to take the penelty. but we finished in fourth place with only the 2 fish and one dead

the guys and gals of the high desert walleye are great and friendly people. if any one here wants to fish their tournys, the next one is June 14 & 15 then the one after that is Oct 18 & 19

Great trip for you guys, Looks like the lake has a lot of water for a change. Fished that lake for close to 50 years, lot of good walleye fishing in the tri-lakes down there, Ute, Santa Rosa also. Look forward to your next report. :)
