He just thought I'd post this let everyone get some cheap fishing stuff. All the walmarts are cleaning out their sporting goods sections, I bought 3 SA fly rods for 10-13$ each and a ton of flies, lures, ice fishing jigs and fishing line. I hit every walmart in town to score what I wanted and my father in law lives in Canon City said theirs was doing the same thing so I'm pretty sure its all the walmarts.
Happy hunting!

I know... I picked up some egg sinkers for like 22 cents a bag of 5. Then I bought some crank baits for a buck and a half each. At other stores, these would have gone for at least 3 or more dollars.

Thank you for the tip.

You know, the Wally World closest to me had every pound test of Fluorocarbon line from 1 to 40 pound last year. This year, about zilch past 4 #. They aren't very consistent. Management at Wally World has heard of Zebco reels, so they aren't like entirely devoid of fishing tackle knowledge but....

Epic- Which or where are the Wal-Marts you're talking about? I just left the Loveland Super Wal-Mart. I picked up some lures, snaps, and weighted bobbers (thanks 1eyered). I was there forever, according to my wife, but nothing was on sale. They actually even had some new stuff. If the other Wal-Marts are clossing out, it would definatly be worth a trip though. They have a shakespere ultralight combo I've wanted for trout, and I couldn't pass up a $13 fly rods. Thanks!!

I hit 4 Walmarts here in Colorado Springs and they all had some stuff the same and some differents stuff and prices were different in all the stores to. I asked why and the girl behind the counter said it has something to do with location and stock and demand. But she also said some of the stores are behind and havent put all there stuff out on discount yet and one of our stores didnt have it seperated from the none sale stuff which made fore a real pain in the butt trying to find stuff. The girl I talked to said guys were buying 10+ poles at a time so I dont know how long they will last, another clerk at the walmart on powers in Colorado Springs said more poles were going on sale next week.
My father in law hit the one in Canon City and bought a whole bunch of flies as they were marked 75cents for packs of 4+ and they were like 2$ here for the same ones on clearence. My freind in Pueblo said he bought some ice fishing poles and reels for 5$.
I would suggest asking the person in sporting goods, one of the ones I went to had the stuff way up front and not in the sporting goods section which was confusing too.

Well dang nabbit! The Lakewood Wal Mart just isn't playing along with the rest of them, I guess. Just the usual pickens from the bargain bin.

I did hit The Galyan's liquidation a while back. People were tearing the stuff off the walls before they changed the name to Dick's Sports.

Even though I do most my shopping on line these days, I still make it a habit to stop in at the local Ma N Pa tackle shops. I'll throw down 20 bucks or so on stuff I may or may not need just to "jaw" with these folks about fishing. Wholesale shops and Wal Mart usually beat them on inventory and price but the knowledge the local shops possess is pure gold!
