fished waterton canyon this weekend. hooked 11 rainbows
from 10 to 16 inches on #2 mepps in the current. probably
protecting the spawn eggs. lots of fun from 10-3:30 looks like the flow is coming up a bit

I've had some incredible luck on spinners in the canyon on spinners when they weren't interested in flies. Vicious strikes too. If I'm spin fishing, I use ultra light gear, so even a 10 inch trout feels big.

Many, many moons ago before I became a fly fishing lackey, I used to dead drift Mepps spinners in the Platte (Waterton, Deckers, etc) just like you would with bait. At times that approach would far outfish casting and reeling. Not always, though. John
