I think the species should make a difference, for example a 18lb carp shouldn't beat a 6 pound bass, or say a 16-17 inch crappie, those would be way more of an accomplishment than a big carp.

Can we give a general statement of the lure? My inner lake trout fisherman likes to keep fancy lures secret. What if we don't want to hurt a big ol trophy fish? Will a length girth work?

You take a length and a girth and use a fish calculator, that's fine!!!

And if you're talking about a specific lure, "jerkbait" or "grub" will work fine. No need to be super specific

F*** yea it would. So far the leading fish (not eligible for prizes) is 18" long and 3.5 pounds.

Pretty weak... shouldn't be tough for anyone to beat. ;)

You should join in, lurker! Seems our "suburban salmon" very much enjoys the WD40. Might be able to get into a lunker.

Just remember to take a pic of the can next to the fish for your submission. ;)

I'm pretty sure the wd40 works. Last summer I spent many days slaying the bobos at rampart. My gf and I would end up splitting up and who ever had the can of WD was catching more. Or is it all placebo ???

Wouldn't a more appropriate test be one hook with worm and WD, and one with a worm, NO WD40? If the goal is to prove the substance is an effective attractant (even moreso than plain bait) then this would be the test, I think.

I don't think anyone has put forth the idea that WD40 in and of itself is a "bait".... but maybe it is. :) Perhaps that SHOULD be tried out, who knows...

I was thinking about using a piece of sponge on a hook drenched in wd40, that would definitely tell you if it worked or not. Having wd40 sprayed on a worm doesn't do much to determine if it works or not, maybe if I actually go out for carp ill set on up with worm and one with sponge! But If I catch a big fish on the worm best believe im putting the wd40 in the picture of that fish >:D
