Weather for weekend

We seem to be in that cycle where the weather gets bad just in time for the weekend. I've been wanting to go to Pueblo this week but its just not the place to be with all this wind. If your gonna go fishing, Saturday looks a whole lot better than Sunday. Ed

Yup, I know what you mean. I've been wanting to make a run to Flaming Gorge to jig for lakers and it's been the same way, at least for the weekends I could have gotten away.

I don't mind rain, snow or cold, but toss wind into the mix and it sucks the fun right out!
I have my first cold with body aches, ear aches and a sore throat...I had big fishing plans for the weekend...I am going to stay home and sleep...plan a trip to John Martin in two weeks to see what the crappies and saugeyes are up to...so it can snow and snow and snow...I have provisions...beverages...and Dominoes phone number...
Hey fisherman, just a word of advice, I have studied weather for the last 10 years. I am curently working on my masters. This second storm could produce some very intense weather on Saturday night into Sunday for the Front Range and into the mountains. If the Artic cold keeps on rolling down from the north as it seems to be, then we could see a good accumulation of snow here in Denver. (Possible 6-12?) Low pressure systems this time of year hold a ton of energy. Be very careful fisherman. As we have heard so many times that March is our snowiest month of the year. This would be the reason alone. Watch the forecast. Good luck.....
I would stay indoors but I'm fishing the tournament at Cherry Creek on Sunday. :D I don't mind heavy snow but I hope they're wrong about the wind!
Don-Best of luck. I don't envy you being out there in a boat on Sunday. Stay safe. Ed
Hey Don, the first weather front blew right threw Denver at a very rapid rate. The wind should subside as the temperature drops. Saturday's morning looks like wind shouldn't be an issue, but the late afternoon holds a different story. Be prepared for rain/snow late Saturday into Sunday with possible accumulation. Be very prepared fisherman - watch your forecast, good luck Don!

Hey Pope, I'll be on chatfield by 7 am tomorrow and off buy noon. what do you think? every channel on the boob tube says something different.

Dan
Hey Dan, it is the million dollar question. I think the fishing tomorrow morning will be exceptional. The low front will not hit until later in day. Wind should not be too much of a problem, but this could change. One thing to understand about weather in Colorado, the mountains modify our weather systems; hence the reason Colorado has very crazy weather. Our weather is very difficult to understand and read. Do not get mad at the weather man or women. The current way that meteorologist forecast weather is by using several different computer models which take all the atmospheric variables into account and then prescribe an average from them. That is why all news coverage may be a bit different. We as fisherman understand that as a low front approaches, fish begin to feed very aggressively. Fish do not know if the weather will last ten minutes or ten days. They are only preparing for the worst!!! I would not stay out to late, if this storm does not cool off, and slow down you could see a bit of what we had today. Good luck!

Pope is our very own weatherman! Great!!

I guess a trip to Gross is out for the weekend, since I have to work tomorrow morning. Maybe somewhere local....
Sorry, pescado loco
I will be at Gross in the morning.I will let everyone know how it goes. Cheers
Everybody talks about the weather but no one does anything about it!

Actually that is not true, it seems I have a direct influence on the weather, generally if I am off work the weather is bad, if I am at work it is perfect fishing weather.

But seriously, I think the weather needs to stabilize a bit to get the good walleye bite going. As erratic as it has been this spring I think it has screwed up their, whatever it is that tells them its time to spawn, eat etc.
if this is true dan you need to work some weekends

I work today and am off tomorrow, see what I mean?
Thanks Dan. The converging upslope cold front really turned the fishing on today. Sorry, you are working. Went to Arvada Res. and absolutly hammerd the trout. One of the best front range days I have ever had. As long as you continue to work on Saturdays, then this could be a great year... Sorry Dude ;D

Always happy to help in whatever small way I can. Glad you had a good day!
Just as things begin to warm up, BAM a blizzard hits Colorado. I know we need the moisture, but the fish are beginning to really hit hard. This is hard to be so ready for the season to get rolling forward, and then we get set back a few weeks. We are going to see a large  amount of snow between Saturday night into Sunday, and well right in to Monday. These storms are BIG, they have tons of ENERGY, and when they swing from the south right into the Front Range Mountains, we are going to pay. I hope I am VERY WRONG!!!!
Good luck!!!
Pope, thanks for the heads up on the weather. I'm all ready to go out and shake any heavy, wet snow off of my trees.

Pope, You were right on with the report for this am. We got off before any wind. Now if we could just find the eyes over 17 15/16 " ! Thanks
