was looking to take kids to find blue gill. from what i could tell from the online reports, this lake was supposed to be good. unfortunately got out in the heat of the day so didnt see a single pan fish, but creeping around the bridge area saw several 11-12 inch bass. the weird thing is i had a nice juicy nightcrawler on for the kiddos and the damn thing charged the hook, stopped short, sniffed it and took off. what gives? This is the 4th time out with the boy (5) and sister (4). I don't know how many more times we can get skunked and still keep their interest! My oldest can swim enough so i could get him if he went in, but my little one is not safe near moving water, otherwise I know all my old fly fishing stream haunts would produce pretty fast. any tips for finding still water fish for the kids?

Grand view ponds is a good bet for kids.

Webster lake sucks. They throw stockers in there so I'm surprised they didn't hit your baits. The bridge is a good place to get them.
