Hello fellow anglers,

I've lived in Colorado for a little over 3 years now and I've managed to get some decent day trips in throughout my weeks. I now finally have the weekends free and I want to look into 2-3 day camping routes with great fly fishing along the way.

Any recommendations? I live in Denver and I'm more than willing to drive 3-4 hours.

Thanks

Are you wanting to backpack and fish along the way, or just fish and camp?

Pueblo is a great fun weekend spot, lots of fishing areas with good inlets for fly fishing and reservoir for casting. Good camping areas or you can go up to the Pike National Forest at night.

There are several small lakes in the Indian Peaks Wilderness that have great fishing. You can reserve a few different camping sites and hike along the way.

If you're in for a journey Lake McConaughy is also a lot of fun, just a drive. They have camping there as well.

Eleven mile res is one of my favorites for camping. Also, the Granby area has lots of camping on and around Granby lake/ the co river.

Flat Tops or North Park for car camping

The Cross Creek drainage in the Holy Cross Wilderness area is neat country.

Can't say any more due to fragile waters.
