Fished West Lake 4-16 and had a good day. The trout were definitely bitting well on hardware - I caught them on 1/8 ounce Kastmasters and Mepps spinners. Most were 10 to 14 inches, nothing bigger this time although I know there are some big trout in the lake. This is a great lake to take the kids as there are plenty of trout and it has super easy access. The only drawback in the spring is the wind but I like to fish in the late afternoons when it's not so bad. Nearby Dowdy and Bellair are two other good options though they typically don't produce the size of the fish West does and they get more pressure.

My brother and I fished Dowdy on 4-17 for about 3 hrs, till dark, did rather well. Caught 6 Bows all 18-24 inch. Stayed the night in a tent (COLD), fished all day on the 18th, from boat and caught about 25-30 between use, and lost half as much. some around 10-14", but most were rather nice 16-21", with the biggest of the day at 24 1/2" and just over 2lbs. Well worth freezing our @$$'s off the night before.

Like West lake when when I can't use the boat. Good fishing fishing up there!!
