Like TFB, the brookie is to be added maybe this weekend. I also need to get into some brown trout on rapalas, that sounds like real fun! Oh and a grayling, but that's way out of my league.

I'm thinking 75% that's a regular ol' green sunfish, but it's quite possible that's a hybrid bluegill with most of the green sunfish traits. Hybrid bluegills are generally a bluegill hybridized with some other sunfish, but in the fish farm industry, they're generally greensunfish/bluegill hybrids. Your's got a lil rounder of a body shape, but green sunfish colors. Plus the proportion of the mouth to the body is a lil small for a common green sunfish. Here are some comparisons:

TFB: This is a very good thread you started. Thanks. This panfish discussion is drifting a lil far, I know, mah bad.. "and I call myself a moderator?"..... So I might start a thread on that.

DK: Here's a wild guess.. Maybe a sacramento perch? I know they were stocked in Banner Lakes east of Hudson way back then because we've got a state record sacramento perch listed from there. That's still one of my blank checkboxes on my list of "fish I have caught".

Did it look anything like this?

DavidK...

Hmmm.. Interesting. Welps, it will be another unsolved mystery! But hey, check this.. If you caught one, you might catch more outta there. If ya go again.... Bring a camera.. And if ya got like a 20 to 50 gallon aquarium that needs something "cool.........."

You know the rest.

My elementary school mentality says I should go check out that pond that you're visiting. I used to have all kinds of thumbsized pumpkinseeds and green sunfishes in 10 and 20 gal tanks with "real pond" terrain and everything.
