Looking for a little advice from the sage members of the forum.

So I got a little bonus at work and after 90% of it was used to get caught up on bills and buy some stuff for the new house I am left with $100-150 that I would like to use on a new setup.

  • I only have spinning gear as of right now but I am not opposed to a baitcasting rig (I will just have to learn how to use it).
  • I fish mainly from shore, although I do have a belly boat and access to a one-man pontoon boat.
  • Usually in metro area waters with an occasional trip out of state
  • Almost 100% in lakes not rivers
  • Walleye, Bass and Perch are my main quarry, with catfish, northern pike and crappie thrown in every once in awhile.
  • Most of my gear now is ultra-light to light-medium, kind of want to get a medium rig
  • I would like to get the most bang for my buck(so Gander and BPS peeps fi have sales you know of that would be cool, or a great online store.)
I think those are the main points, any advice would be welcome!
Thanks!!!

What kinda fishing you do most? Jigging? Cranking? Bait?

You may wanna stick with spinning for the main reason that once you go with a baitcasting setup, you may not wanna use your spinning stuff anymore....costing you more money ;D

HaHa! good point on the reel.

I do a little of everything, mainly plastics (grubs, worms, etc.) and some small crankbaits and jerk baits. I am wanting to get more into the jerkbaits adn I dotn think any of my setups are up to snuff for them (rod to light).

I'm sure a couple guys will hop on with some spinning suggestions. I am pretty out of touch with the spinning market. The unfortunate thing about baitcasters is that a quality reel would take up the majority of your $100-$150...leaving you no room for the rod. Here are a few recent threads for you to eyeball:

Thanks Rivrunnr1, I forget about the search function sometimes, it has a wealth of knowledge for sure.

Shoot those threads were only in the last few weeks that I remembered! I bet there's a ton if you search. Only problem is, the word "rod" and "reel" and whatnot are used way too often to get good search results oftentimes.
