I found a website that may be of interest to my fellow anglers.
www.sailflow.com
This site gives up to the minute wind information for places all over the country. I found it when I was trying to see if Spinney was blown out or not. They show detailed information with hourly wind speed and direction as well as a 7 day forecast!! Take a look, I don't know what other areas or lakes are covered but it is a good tool.

I think this may be a pay site?

Just enter the zipcode at the bottom of the page where it says to enter the zipcode. Worked for me no paying.

the wind is usually totally calm until I get on the lake then it kicks up. I think it follows me.

I was out on Lake Maloney here in town it was glass when I got there then 3 footers by the time I fished for an hour.

Use the wind to your advantage is what I say.
