Went to Echo Lake near Mount Evans last night and there were dead trout everywhere. There was no sign of any living trout or rises even though lots of insects were on the water.

I guess oxygen levels got too low this winter under the ice.

That's too bad. That lake is pretty shallow. That could have happened due to the extra deep snow on top on the ice. If that is what killed the fish I'm surprised they are washing up now.

Use to fish Echo every year during the first month or so of ice. With all the weed growth and the lack of oxygen as it is so shallow it has had a winter kill almost every year. Only one spring did I find that the mild winter had held a few fish over and the hogs were big that spring. Awesome lake, but best for me from October till the oxygen level gets too low and they become either lethargic or dead.
