I have only been fly fishing 1 year now, but in that 1 year I have fished 125 days or so. Coming into my first winter of fly fishing with some knowledge of bug life, presentation, reading water and so on . Except for a few dries I only fish nymphs and have been catching trout regularly. I have noticed in the last week it has been mostly smaller fish in the usual fast water spots and pockets that typically hold bruisers. I know the browns are going into spawn does this mean it is time to throw meaty streamers ,search out different holding type of water and quit nymphing for a while.

What are the bows doing or where do they go when the browns span?

thanks
