Hey Dj, here's an idea: if the bobbin doesn't fit the spool, then...
use the spools that fit the bobbin: it sounds a little weird, but if you use this stuff a lot, and I go through thread fast when I'm tying a lot, I am so glad I have these:
Yes, they're expensive. They're also awesome. And for the brief period of time it takes me to spool material onto an aluminum spool (goes either in the vise or your electric drill), it's totally worth it. Spring loaded clutch drive allows for about 14" of 'hook to post (bobbin rest) and back' - a.k.a. no more having to wind the spool back on to the bobbin to take up excess thread.
Oh, if money were no object, Marc Petitjean tools are a dream come true...
